Billy McEwan was appointed manager of Mansfield Town on 4 July 2008 following the sacking of Paul Holland.

Billy was a player for the club in the Second Division Title winning season of 1976-77.His most successful stints were at Hibernian, Chesterfield and Rotherham during a playing career which spanned 19  years.

As a manager, Billy's first post was at Sheffield United in 1986.He then took charge at Millmoor, Rotherham, and guided the Millers to the Division Four Championship title in his first season.After a brief stint at Darlington, Billy then spent 11 and a half years on the coaching staff at Derby County, and was caretaker manager twice

In February 2005 Billy was appointed as first team manager of York City.They finished 8th in his first season.  He received three Manager of the Month awards in 2005-6 (one) and 2006-7season (two.)

After two years at Bootham Crescent, Billy left the club and had a short time out in management, scouting for various managers, before joining us in July 08.
