Manager Billy McEwan says he is close to adding players to his squad.

Said Billy:   "It takes time to negotiate with players, and there are a lot of other matters going off at the club which I have to attend to.

"The players that have been with us on trial have done quite well, and I'm trying to 'rope the good ones in'.  Some of the players aren't the finished article by any stretch of the imagination, and the players who I bring in will improve further.

"The players who I bring in will have to have the right work ethic, the right attitude, and will have to give the maximum for this football club.  I will be trying to improve the team all the time."

Billy also revealed that he would be taking advantage of the loan system.

"We will look to bring in some players on loan.  it is a system which worked quite well when i was at York City," he said.

Meanwhile, our young professionals look set to feature in Monday's match at Matlock Town, whilst a stronger side will be fielded at York Street against Boston United this Saturday.

"Our junior professionals like McGhee and Trimmer may play at Matlock next Monday, but we have to be cautious against picking up injuries - that is the last thing you want with only days before the first match of the season. "

In conclusion, the manager dismissed rumours linking Stags with a move to capture Notts County goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington.
